Hey, Fiercely YOU!
Thanks for stopping by.
My name is Steph. I hold a vision of a world in which all humans are deeply in tune with their Fierce OKness. I see generations of humans refusing to linger in the question of “is there something wrong with me?” and choosing instead to believe that they are powerfully OK. I believe that by coming together regularly to share our joys, challenges and truths, we can find comfort and power in the messiness of our human experiences, as well as a deep sense of true belonging. I believe that trusting in our Fierce OKness is the first step toward living truly empowered lives and reestablishing harmony and balance in the world. I believe in the power of the relational and expressive arts to uncover the wellness in all of us. This is why Fiercely OK is creating Spaces of Song & Belonging.
What is Fiercely OK?
Fiercely OK is an organization that is challenging the current narratives that would have us believe that we are not ok for one reason or another, and creating spaces where all people feel encouraged to bring their full selves, including their messiness, the fullness of their feelings and all those parts of themselves that might be considered shameful or ugly. By making space for the ugly and the messy, we discover together there is Fierce OKness in all of it - these parts of us are not only normal but worthy of love. We find strength and comfort in knowing we are not alone.
What are Spaces of Song & Belonging?
We're talking about fully accessible community spaces where people gather on a regular basis to sing, share the experience of being human and support one another in their wellness journeys. They are built on a belief that there is an inner strength/guiding wisdom residing in all forms of life, which we call FIERCE OKNESS. We sing, dance, create and relate to reconnect ourselves to it.
What are Fiercely OK’s offerings?
We offer:
weekly reflective song circles and expressive arts programming (online);
seasonal community events like campfires and potlucks (online);
weekly check-ins on Zoom and Facebook live;
a supportive online community;
opportunities to participate in virtual recording projects;
and a database of teaching videos and original songs for community singing.
We are excited to offer sometime in the near future:
the Messy Human Podcast;
inspirational and educational social media campaigns;
and expressive art therapy groups.
Who do you serve?
All bodies, minds, feelings, and spirits are enCOURAGEd in the brave spaces we create together. We serve ALL people who are ready to show up in community, with a willingness to be vulnerable and seen, and a longing to belong. We are especially passionate about supporting folks living with anxiety and, more generally, creating spaces for people experiencing mental health challenges and/or barriers to housing, employment, education, and/or social inclusion.
When and where can I find you?
ONLINE! Prior to March 13, 2020, we were proudly serving our community in three accessible spaces: the YWCA's Elm Centre, the Stop Community Food Centre, and the Davenport Perth Neighbourhood and Community Health Centre. Due to COVID-19, all programs are now online, which means you can join from wherever you are! See our current offerings on the Home page.
How is Fiercely OK supported?
All Fiercely OK Programs are offered as gifts, meaning there are no fees required for participation. Come, sing, dance, belong! No questions asked. You are worthy. At the same time, it is true that Fiercely OK artists and organizers need to be nourished by the gifts of their community in order to show up fully. Reciprocity ensures the viability of the gift. We currently have 11 proud supporters on Patreon and we are so so grateful for them! In order to continue giving what we’re giving, we need others to step up to the plate. What do ya say? Are you excited and able to offer a gift of support?
