About our Fall Offerings

Join us from the comfort of your home to sing simple songs that will soothe your tender heart and help you feel whole again. Steph & Paul are gifted space holders and songbirds. As a team, they will not only create an accessible and uplifting musical experience for you but also an environment that is welcoming of your brave and messy human self!

Steph and Paul will lead you in song using the power of Zoom. We will sing familiar and new songs, using our intuition to decide which song is needed in the moment. We will use a looper, which means you will sing along with a whole choir full of Stephs and Pauls singing in harmony. It won't be the same as singing together in person, but it will be oh-so-special and therapeutic in its own way.

After registering, an email with Zoom links will be sent directly to your inbox. Hurrah, the magic of technology!

BONUS FOR FULL-SERIES REGISTRANTS! You will receive recordings of all the songs, so you can remember and sing them wherever you go, and catch up on any weeks you miss. You will have access to them for a full year, until September 2025.

What To Expect:
Every week, we will gather in an online “circle” of diverse humans and sing easy-to-learn songs. You can expect an opening song and check-in, a brief warm-up of some kind to help you feel comfortable in the space, and a lot more singing before a closing song and check-out. While we may start off feeling shy, we will practice curiosity and vulnerability, and eventually find our way to greater connection, self-acceptance, aliveness, and celebration together.

Who Is This For?
All voices, ages and levels are welcome! No musical experience is necessary. In fact, people who only sing in the shower or car are especially welcome. We are all capable of making beautiful sound, and we would love to help you experience this birthright.

FAQs

What kinds of songs do you sing?

While you will occasionally learn and sing a portion of a well-known song, it is likely that you won't recognize most of the songs we sing at first. Over the years, Steph & Paul have filled their pockets with 100+ mantra-like songs that are therapeutic by nature and easy to learn. We like to think of them as song companions - you can call upon them in your daily life to nourish your wellness and resilience. Many of these songs have been written by folks in the community singing network and carry rich origin stories. With time, you too may find that your pockets are full of these songs and that you are singing them wherever you go.

Will we be able to see and hear the other participants?

Great question! Yes, you will be able to see others who have their camera on. However, while singing, we generally won’t be able to hear each other. When everyone sings together on Zoom, we are out of sync. There are technologies that enable singing together virtually, but they require a little extra set-up, which can be a barrier for some folks. For the sake of accessibility and ease, rather than trying to recreate an in-person singing experience on Zoom, we deliberately choose to create something delightfully different. Instead of blending your voice with a large group, you sing along with Steph and Paul as they weave magic using their handy-dandy looper. You will hear a whole choir full of multiple Stephs and Pauls singing in harmony, and sing along in whatever way you want. Since nobody else in the call can hear you, you are free to explore the full range of your voice. You can improvise, add harmonies, switch parts, or just listen and enjoy the sound bath. It’s different than singing in person, but it’s beautiful and nourishing in its own way.

To support connection between participants, we have a check-in at the beginning, invite some reflections between songs, occasionally invite folks to unmute while singing when rhythmic precision isn’t needed, and also create opportunities for folks to co-create songs with us by suggesting lyrical additions. We have even been known to make up new songs using input from participants. We always leave the online sessions feeling more connected and trust you will too!

How can I support your singing offerings?

When you register, you will have the option to give what you choose (GWYC). Below, the "sustaining contribution" is the amount we need to receive per person on average to sustainably continue offering our workshops. The beauty of community is that, where some can give less, others can give more and it all works out. We invite you to give what you can.

Gift options for full-series participants:
Sustaining Contribution: $210 for 14 weeks ($15 per session)
Supported Contribution: $160
Supporter Contribution: $260
Benefactor Contribution: $310

Gift options for drop-ins:
Sustaining Contribution: $15 per session
Supported Contribution: $10
Supporter Contribution: $20
Benefactor Contribution: $25

If other adults will be joining you from the same location, we invite you to either make a contribution for them with your registration or have them register separately.

PLEASE NOTE: Drop-ins will not receive recordings of the song circles. If you want recordings, please consider registering for the full series. Full-series participants will have access to recordings for a full year, until September 2025.

If you know you want to sing regularly and these gift options are a barrier to your participation, please reach out to Steph (steph@fiercelyok.ca) to discuss alternate options, like payment plans and COME RECEIVE spots.

Money is tight. Can I still join?

We dream of living in a world made of gifts, where folks who are yearning for song and connection can step into our singing community and experience joy and belonging, no matter their ability to give. If you are interested in singing with us, but finances are a barrier, please be in touch. We might be able to gift this experience to you.

Can I drop in?

Yes! When you visit our Eventbrite page, you will see options to register for the full 14-week series or a single drop-in. Choose the option that is right for you!

Can I register for 7 weeks at a time?

We’re so glad you asked. Yes, you can! When you register for the full series, you will have the option to sign up for the full 14-week series, the first 7 weeks or the last 7 weeks. You will receive recordings for the weeks you signed up for. We support you to choose the option that is right for you!

How do you support people of all abilities to participate?

While we acknowledge that we have work to do, we are endeavouring to create spaces in which folks of all abilities, identities and singing experiences are able to participate in ways that are satisfying to them. All songs will be taught in the repeat-after-me style and will be simple enough to learn in one sitting. For folks who appreciate visual aids, we can share the lyrics with you via Zoom’s chat function. In the opening circle, folks will be offered the chance to share their names and pronouns. This is always optional, of course. While we are working to anticipate your needs, we warmly invite you, if and when you feel safe enough, to let us know how we can best support you to show up. Together, as a community, we will grow.

What is your refund policy?

While we do not guarantee refunds for cancellations, unplanned absences or no-shows, we are committed to our relationship with you! Please be in touch with any concerns; we will work together to find an agreeable solution.
